However, since it wanted to cover the full range of subjects intended for universities of applied sciences, the RIBM was supported by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the conversion so that the university framework law at the time could be fulfilled.

The Rheinische Hochschule Köln, or RH for short, is a state-recognized university of applied sciences (HAW) run by a private, non-profit organization.
